The All-Africa Students Union (AASU) is proud to stand alongside youth leaders from across the globe at the ongoing World Youth Conference for Peace in China, a landmark gathering dedicated to fostering dialogue, understanding, and collaboration among the next generation of changemakers.
Representing the voice and vision of millions of African students, our high-level delegation is led by H.E. Peter Kwasi Kodjie, Secretary General of AASU, and includes Jemilatu Mamshie Bawa, Chief Operating Officer, and Angel Mbuthia, Secretary for Gender and International Relations. Together, they embody AASU’s commitment to promoting peace, inclusion, and youth-driven solutions on the world stage.
At the Opening Ceremony, Jemila and Angel took the floor with powerful and inspiring presentations. They spoke passionately about the central role of African youth in shaping a peaceful, inclusive, and just world, stressing the importance of cross-continental collaboration, intercultural understanding, and policies that place young people at the heart of peacebuilding processes. Their remarks drew attention to Africa’s rich history of resilience, innovation, and solidarity and how these strengths can guide global efforts for sustainable peace.
Later today, Secretary General Peter Kwasi Kodjie will deliver a keynote address at the main conference plenary. His intervention will reinforce Africa’s voice on the international stage, emphasizing AASU’s unwavering commitment to global peace, human rights, and the empowerment of young people as drivers of political, social, and economic transformation. He will also highlight the urgent need for structural reforms that allow youth to move from the margins to the center of decision-making in peace and security matters.
This year’s conference serves not only as a platform for dialogue but also as a space for forging long-term partnerships between youth-led organizations worldwide. For AASU, it is another opportunity to ensure that Africa’s perspectives, priorities, and aspirations are represented in shaping a more peaceful and equitable world.
