SUMMARY:Green Ghana Day Tree Planting Exercise
DESCRIPTION:The All-Africa Students Union Environment and Climate Action Working Group is actively participating in the national tree planting efforts in Ghana. \nWe’ll gather at Number 3 Madina Cluster of Schools for a day filled with tree planting\, environmental education\, and the empowerment of the next generation of eco-warriors. \nThis event is just one of many tree planting exercises planned by the working group this year\, with a special focus on schools. Our goal is to instill in school children a sense of environmental stewardship and the skills to care for young plants. \nInspiring children to become stewards of the environment and protect life on land from deforestation is crucial in our battle against climate change. During the event\, we’ll also educate the students about issues such as indiscriminate dumping of refuse\, climate change\, afforestation\, and more. \nLet’s all play our part in fighting climate change! \n#treeplanting #greenghanaday #afforestation #plasticwastemanagement #climatechangeaction

SUMMARY:3rd Africa Educators Forum 2024
DESCRIPTION:Event Overview\n\n\nDespite being recognised as a fundamental human right\, education across the African continent faces many obstacles. In response to these challenges\, the African Union has\ndesignated 2024 as the Year of Education\, signaling a collective commitment to prioritize education as a catalyst for socio-economic transformation and sustainable development. \nAfrica’s educational landscape struggles with significant challenges from insufficient infrastructure in schools. This affects some aspects of education provision\, particularly in remote and marginalized regions. The disparities in digital access worsen these issues\, limiting opportunities for accessing online learning resources and acquiring\nessential digital literacy skills for the 21st-century learning environment. However\, amidst these challenges lies a profound opportunity to reap the dividends from\nAfrica’s growing youth population. With a demographic dividend represented by its youthful populace\, Africa possesses immense potential and opportunity. It is\nestimated that by 2025\, 1 in 4 young people will be from Africa. Strategic investment in education and skills development can unlock potentials\, driving innovation\,\neconomic growth\, and social progress across the continent \nIt is against the above background that the All-Africa Students Union (AASU) on the sidelines of the inaugural East Africa Community Regional Education Conference\, is\nhosting the Africa Students and Youth Spotlight Session under the theme: Educate an African fit for the 21st Century: Building resilient education systems for\nincreased access to inclusive\, lifelong\, quality\, and relevant learning in Africa”. As Africa enters a transformative era dedicated to educational advancement\, it is\nimperative to center the voices and experiences of its young people. With 70% of Africa’s population below the age of 30\, the youth represent not just the future but the\ndriving force behind present-day innovation\, progress\, and societal change. \nThe spotlight session will serve as a platform for dialogue\, engagement\, and collaboration. It will provide a space for students and youth from diverse backgrounds\nto share their insights\, challenges\, and aspirations regarding education in Africa in building a resilient education system. Key discussions during the session will empower\nstudents and youth to become active participants in their own educational journeys\, improve innovation and creativity in learning environments\, and address the unique\nneeds and perspectives of young people in education policy and implementation. \n+ Calendar
