The Education & Students Rights Working Group advocates for equitable access to quality education across Africa. We focus on policies and initiatives that protect the rights of students at all levels—primary, secondary, and tertiary—ensuring they have a voice in decisions that affect their education and future. Our mission is to break barriers, promote inclusive education, and advance student welfare.
The Education & Students Rights Working Group ensures that students are empowered to actively participate in decisions affecting their education. We advocate for policies that safeguard student rights, including freedom from discrimination, access to safe learning environments, and protection from unfair academic practices.
To ensure that African education systems remain competitive on a global scale, we support reforms that are aligned with international standards. This includes advocating for curriculum updates, modernization of teaching methods, and the adoption of new technologies in the classroom. We engage with stakeholders to push for policies that improve education outcomes.
We are committed to the belief that education should be a fundamental right, accessible to everyone, regardless of their background. This includes advocating for equal opportunities for marginalized groups such as women, students with disabilities, and those from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds.
Many students face financial barriers to education, and our working group is dedicated to addressing this issue. We collaborate with governments, NGOs, and educational institutions to create more scholarship opportunities for African students. In addition to scholarships, we promote initiatives that provide students with learning resources, such as free or affordable textbooks, access to libraries, and digital education tools.
SDG 4: Quality Education
We aim to ensure that every individual has access to inclusive, equitable, and quality education from early childhood to adulthood. Focusing on providing lifelong learning opportunities, ensuring that education is not only a right but also an accessible resource for all people, regardless of their background, socio-economic status, gender, or location.
The goal encourages educational opportunities at all stages of life, from early childhood to adult education.
